Basketball Game Preview: Triton Hawks vs. Elizabeth Seton

The Triton Hawks and Elizabeth Seton will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Triton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They secured a 61-55 W over Southern Lee on Friday.

Triton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ja'Niah Smith, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Nashara McNeil-Watlington, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 21 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Smith is becoming a predictor of Triton's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 4-2 (and 1-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Hawley, who posted 11 points.

Triton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Seton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it five last Sunday. They blew past Shipley 56-21. Elizabeth Seton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season.

Elizabeth Seton's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Triton, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
