Recap: Gabrielino Eagles vs. Arroyo Knights

The Gabrielino Eagles posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 50-24 margin over Arroyo. Given Gabrielino's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Arroyo is ranked 871st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gabrielino's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Paris Ngeam led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Ngeam continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Banh, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.

Gabrielino's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.1 points. As for Arroyo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Gabrielino will be playing in front of their home fans against Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marshall is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Arroyo, they will head out on the road to square off against El Monte at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. El Monte comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
