Softball Recap: Northwest Triumphs

Northwest let Papillion-LaVista stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Friday but luckily Northwest prevailed anyway. The Vikings came out on top against the Monarchs by a score of 7-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Graclyn Simmons spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Libby Loman was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Becca Dinkelman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Northwest lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Northwest now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Papillion-LaVista, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Northwest wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-3 win against Lincoln Southeast on the 29th. As for Papillion-LaVista, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-2 victory against Pius X on the 29th.
