Softball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Waverly's Winning Streak

Waverly dropped down to 11-4 on Monday, ending the team's eight-game streak of wins. They lost 14-7 to the Elkhorn North Wolves. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since October 3, 2024.

Tenley Peery and Blakeley Meyers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Peery got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while Meyers got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Meyers has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jill Hind, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Elkhorn North, their record is now 7-3. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Elkhorn North's side, Paige Asher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Asher was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Cam Debuse and Naomi Cameron did most of the damage at the plate: Debuse went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double, while Cameron went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kelsey Daubert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
