Nixon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past the Ray Texans 17-14. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Nixon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emiliano Hernandez, who rushed for 117 yards.
