Baseball Game Preview: Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes vs. Step of Faith Christian Academy Chargers

The Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes will square off against the Step of Faith Christian Academy Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Step of Faith Christian Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Coastal HomeSchool, who comes in off a win.

Coastal HomeSchool took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Coastal HomeSchool narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted against the Wildcats since April 10, 2021.

Carson Little made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Coastal HomeSchool's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Little was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jace Poppell, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Coastal HomeSchool is 4-1 when Poppell posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Saul Issa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Step of Faith Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 13-3 to Coastal HomeSchool two weeks ago.

Coastal HomeSchool has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. Step of Faith Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Coastal HomeSchool's way against Step of Faith Christian Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Coastal HomeSchool made off with a 13-3 win.
