Soccer Game Preview: Riverdale vs. Minarets

The Riverdale Cowboys are taking a road trip to challenge the Minarets Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverdale is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Riverdale is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Chowchilla on Tuesday. Riverdale fell just short of Chowchilla by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Cowboys seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Minarets kept a clean sheet against Parlier on Tuesday. They blew past the Panthers 11-0. Considering the Mustangs have won four contests by more than four goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Parlier from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Kamryn Holland led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Riverdale now has a losing record at 6-7-2. As for Minarets, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4-1.

Riverdale was able to grind out a solid victory over Minarets in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 6-4. Will Riverdale repeat their success, or does Minarets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
