Basketball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin was the 62-25 winner over Laguna Creek when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Franklin Wildcats received a blow on Monday as they fell 51-37 to the Laguna Creek Cardinals. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Laguna Creek found their leader in freshman Alyson Aguirre-Hernandez, who posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. What's more, Aguirre-Hernandez also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Jestine Tofi was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Laguna Creek, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Franklin will head out on the road to face off against Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin is facing Cosumnes Oaks at the right time seeing as Cosumnes Oaks is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Laguna Creek, they will square off against Elk Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Laguna Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
