Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Minuteman vs. Patrick County Cougars

The Liberty Minuteman will play host again on Thursday to welcome the Patrick County Cougars, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Liberty came up short against Liberty Christian and fell 9-4.

Meanwhile, Patrick County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Glenvar by a score of 6-4.

Patrick County got a good showing from Mark Register, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Register has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Patrick County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erik Martinez, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Patrick County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Liberty might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Patrick County when the teams last played back in March. Can the Minuteman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
