Baseball Game Preview: John Milledge Academy Trojans vs. Heritage Hawks

The John Milledge Academy Trojans will square off against the Heritage Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in John Milledge Academy's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Heritage has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Thursday, John Milledge Academy beat Strong Rock Christian 6-2.

John Milledge Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Todd, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Will Adams also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Heritage's offense. They lost 9-0 to First Presbyterian Day on Wednesday.

Heritage also got a good showing from Thomas Strickland, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Strickland posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

John Milledge Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Heritage's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: John Milledge Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Heritage, though, as they've only averaged .295. Will they be able to contain John Milledge Academy's hitters?

John Milledge Academy took their win against Heritage in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 7-1. Will John Milledge Academy repeat their success, or does Heritage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
