Football Recap: Alcovy Takes a Loss

Alcovy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were dealt a 59-6 loss at the hands of the Jackson County Panthers. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-0.

As for Jackson County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.

Jackson County found their leader in sophomore Daylan Maxwell, who rushed for 117 yards and three scores on only ten carries. Maxwell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run.

Alcovy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Habersham Central at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. As for Jackson County, they will square off against Apalachee at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. The Panthers will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
