Basketball Game Preview: Mapletown Maples vs. Bishop Canevin Crusaders

The Mapletown Maples will challenge the Bishop Canevin Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mapletown is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Mapletown is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Geibel Catholic on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mapletown had to suffer through a 59-22 loss at the hands of Geibel Catholic. The Maples were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Bishop Canevin over Eden Christian Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bishop Canevin blew Eden Christian Academy out of the water with a 57-29 final score. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Mapletown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Bishop Canevin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Mapletown was dealt a bruising 53-17 loss at the hands of Bishop Canevin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Mapletown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
