Football Recap: Moriarty Piles Up the Points Against Shiprock + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Albuquerque Academy, Moriarty was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Shiprock Chieftains 53-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pintos also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Mateo Manley-Griego and Mario Romero. Manley-Griego rushed for 109 yards while Romero rushed for 101 yards. Romero also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making one tackle.

Moriarty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 242 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Moriarty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaleb Porter and Ethan McClaskey.

The victory got Moriarty back to even at 1-1. As for Shiprock, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moriarty will face off against St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shiprock, they will square off against Kirtland Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
