Basketball Recap: Southwest SD Comes Up Short

Southwest SD was the 46-19 winner over High Tech SD when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. The Southwest SD Raiders were dealt a 78-32 loss at the hands of the High Tech SD Storm on Monday. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-17.

When it comes to explaining why Southwest SD lost, don't look at Pilar Carrera. Despite the final result, she posted 15 points.

High Tech SD found their leader in freshman Poema Strong, who went 14 for 23 en route to 36 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Strong has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ka'Mari House, who earned eight points along with eight steals and six rebounds.

Southwest SD's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-8. As for High Tech SD, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Southwest SD is taking a road trip to square off against San Ysidro at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for High Tech SD, they and Madison will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. High Tech SD is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
