Basketball Game Preview: Arvin Bears vs. Mira Monte Lions

The Arvin Bears will head out to face off against the Mira Monte Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Arvin took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 41-32 win over Foothill.

Arvin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Melina Gracia out in front who went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points and five steals. Gracia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Mariana Soto was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight boards and eight steals.

Mira Monte hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They put the hurt on Del Oro with a sharp 38-18 win on Wednesday.

Arvin has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Mira Monte, their record now sits at 8-18.

Arvin beat Mira Monte 29-20 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Arvin repeat their success, or does Mira Monte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
