Softball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral dropped down to 14-11 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Legend Titans, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 last Wednesday.

Izzy Mayoros made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Legend, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.

On Legend's side, Caylee Humphrey was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave Humphrey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Bryant, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Chaparral has already played their next matchup, a 14-4 victory against Lakewood on the 17th. As for Legend, they will square off against Pueblo West at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. The Cyclones' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
