Football Recap: Central Takes Down Ranked American Heritage

Central faced American Heritage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rockets came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 31-21. The win was just business as usual for the Rockets, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Anthony McQueen had a dynamite game, throwing for 206 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 63 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024.

American Heritage's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leon Strawder, who threw for 193 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Patriots' leading receiver Jeffar Jean-Noel was Strawder's top target yet again, picking up 123 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for American Heritage, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Central will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on the 4th. The Rockets will need to watch out since the Bulls have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for American Heritage, they have already played their next contest, a 22-13 win against Plantation on the 26th.
