Basketball Game Preview: Center Cougars vs. Bear River Bruins

Center is 2-8 against Bear River since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Center Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bear River Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Center has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Center is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Wheatland with a sharp 47-25 win on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cougars have posted since February 6, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kailee Coggins, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Coggins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reniaya Applin, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and four blocks.

Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Bear River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marysville.

Center's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Bear River, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Center was taken down by Bear River 70-28 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Center was down 43-15.
