Football Recap: Grace Community Takes a Loss

Grace Community lost against First Baptist back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cougars took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints. The Cougars were up 28-14 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

First Baptist's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Jones, who threw for 277 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those 277 passing yards gave Jones a new career-high. Another receiver making a difference was KJ Sykes Jr., who picked up 138 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Grace Community's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for First Baptist, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Grace Community will face off against Pittsburg at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for First Baptist, they will challenge Covenant at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
