Baseball Recap: Heritage Takes Down Holy Spirit Prep in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Heritage rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars with a sharp 11-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Cougars back in April, they had to take a 8-6 loss.

Andrew Arant was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax Lathem, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Heritage has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Holy Spirit Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Heritage will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair will be back at it again later today.
