Basketball Recap: Orange Vista Comes Up Short

Orange Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 51-31 to the Hemet Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 904th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 329th).

Despite the loss, Orange Vista still got an impressive performance from Taniyah Hutcherson, who posted 23 points. The match was Hutcherson's tenth in a row with at least ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hemet to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ruby Lindsey, who went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and five steals. Lindsey has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Gonzalez- Horta, who earned seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Orange Vista's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Hemet, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Orange Vista has already played their next contest (against Rancho Verde), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hemet will head out to face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hemet will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
