Basketball Recap: Orcutt Academy Beats Tehachapi for Their Second Straight Win

If Tehachapi wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Orcutt Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Elizabeth Johnson. The Spartans blew past the Warriors 57-37 on Saturday for which the team can thank Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 22 boards. Her big performance that afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 22 points.

Lizzie Krausse was another key player, putting up six points and three steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played.

Despite the loss, Tehachapi still got an impressive performance from Koree Rodden, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 43.2% of the Warriors' points, marking the seventh time in a row Rodden has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Roed, who scored five points.

The victory made it two in a row for Orcutt Academy and bumps their season record up to 9-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Tehachapi, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Orcutt Academy has already played their next game, a 69-25 victory against Garces Memorial on the 29th. As for Tehachapi, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-34 defeat against Lancaster on the 29th.
