Soccer Recap: Wilton Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Wilton's offense. They lost 5-0 to the Ankeny Hawks on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wilton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Ankeny are ranked fifth).

Wilton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6-2. As for Ankeny, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-2 record this season.

Wilton didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Southeast Polk on the 10th. As for Ankeny, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 1-1 draw against Iowa City on the 10th.
