Basketball Game Preview: Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack vs. Franklin Wildcats

Cosumnes Oaks and Franklin are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Franklin Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Cosumnes Oaks has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Cosumnes Oaks turned things around against Twelve Bridges on Monday. They took down the Raging Rhinos 61-42.

Caitlin Subejano continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 8-for-13 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Nina Yee, who posted ten points.

Cosumnes Oaks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Franklin challenged Laguna Creek on Monday. Franklin lost to Laguna Creek at home by a 51-37 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 680th, while the Cardinals are ranked 336th).

Cosumnes Oaks' win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. As for Franklin, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Cosumnes Oaks beat Franklin 47-37 in their previous meeting on January 8th. Will Cosumnes Oaks repeat their success, or does Franklin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
