Baseball Recap: Coon Rapids Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rogers, Coon Rapids was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Washburn Millers 8-7. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Millers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Reese Sharp and Brady Leckner did most of the damage at the plate: Sharp went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Leckner went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Leckner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raiden Conner, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Coon Rapids always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Coon Rapids' win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Washburn, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Coon Rapids will head out to square off against Forest Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Washburn, they will take on Edina at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hornets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
