Football Recap: Andover Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Champlin Park

Andover faced Champlin Park in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Huskies fell 28-24 to the Rebels. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Huskies couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Andover still got an impressive performance from Joseph Mapson, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 194 yards and one touchdown. Mapson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 107 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Collin Gravink, who rushed for 133 yards.

Andover's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Champlin Park, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Andover will welcome Coon Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Champlin Park, they will host Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
