Softball Recap: Platte Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Holyoke

There's no place like home for Platte Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Holyoke Dragons on Saturday. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 17-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Alyssa Kendrick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Platte Valley got a massive performance out of Danica Fosket, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Fosket has posted since back in August. Landree Edstrom was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Platte Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holyoke only posted an OBP of .000.

Platte Valley's record is now 7-9-1. As for Holyoke, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Platte Valley beat the Dragons by a score of 12-1 later that day.
