Soccer Game Preview: Capistrano Valley vs. Aliso Niguel

The Capistrano Valley Cougars will take on the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Capistrano Valley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Capistrano Valley's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against San Clemente by a score of 2-0. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Tritons are ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 11. They and Trabuco Hills finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Thursday. That draw made it three straight for the Wolverines.

Capistrano Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5-4. Aliso Niguel's draw gives them a new season record of 7-5-5.

Capistrano Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Aliso Niguel when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Capistrano Valley since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
