Recap: New Covenant Christian Flames vs. Mount Calvary Christian Chargers

The New Covenant Christian Flames struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. New Covenant Christian took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mount Calvary Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to New Covenant Christian of the 46-36 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, New Covenant Christian saw an underclassman step up: Qynne Demler scored 22 points. That was a full 62.9% of New Covenant Christian's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Mount Calvary Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Masters led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds. Clara Webb was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.

New Covenant Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mount Calvary Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Covenant Christian will face off against Covenant Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Calvary Christian will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Veritas Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th.
