Ventura had won 16 straight games and Kailee Staniland did her part to make it 17 on Tuesday. The Ventura Cougars came out on top against the Buena Bulldogs by a score of 52-44 thanks in part to Staniland, who went 6 for 14 en route to 21 points and five assists. The contest was her sixth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Messina, who posted five points and ten rebounds. What's more, she also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mimi Moon, who put up 22 points and five boards. Moon has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Karisma Lewis, who earned 12 points and seven rebounds.

Ventura's victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Buena, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-4.

Ventura has already played their next game, a 39-28 win against Oxnard on the 16th. As for Buena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-51 victory against Dos Pueblos on the 16th.
