After losing to Ashley the last time they met, Topsail decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates snuck past the Screaming Eagle with a 2-1 win on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Topsail's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Ashley are ranked 41st).

Topsail's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-5-1. As for Ashley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Topsail will head out to square off against J.H. Rose at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ashley, they will venture away from home to take on New Hanover at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
