Basketball Recap: Hoopa Valley's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After losing to Ferndale the last time they met, Hoopa Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hoopa Valley Warriors walked away with a 68-61 victory over the Ferndale Wildcats on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Michaela Ellsmore and Olivia Gossi certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Ellsmore posted 16 points, while Gossi earned 15 points. That's the most points Gossi has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tinnley Pidgeon, who scored 11 points.

Hoopa Valley now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Ferndale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Hoopa Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Bernard's at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Bernard's will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Hoopa Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ferndale, they will venture away from home to challenge South Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ferndale is facing South Fork at the right time seeing as South Fork is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
