Softball Recap: Bryan Bears vs. Burke Bulldogs

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Bryan nor Burke made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bears blew past the Bulldogs 13-5. 13 seems to be a good number for the Bears as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Nat Arens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gyana Ellis was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in August. Olivia Polsey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Bryan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Bryan's win bumped their record up to 7-21. As for Burke, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Bryan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-0 defeat against Millard West on the 8th. Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
