Recap: Valencia Vikings vs. Golden Valley Grizzlies

The Valencia Vikings won the last time they faced the Golden Valley Grizzlies, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Valencia enjoyed a cozy 67-48 victory over the Grizzlies. Given Valencia's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 843rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valencia was led to victory by Cara McKell and Keira McLaughlin. McKell dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, while McLaughlin almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McLaughlin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Oxciano, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Valencia's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-16. As for Golden Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-18.

Valencia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Golden Valley will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
