East Central hadn't done well against St. Patrick recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hornets secured a 54-48 W over the Fighting Irish. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 69-48 last Thursday.

Brody Howard was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Trey Maryland was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

East Central picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for St. Patrick, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, East Central will be taking part in a tournament against Greene County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets' defense better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 53.8 points per game this season. As for St. Patrick, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-38 loss against Moss Point on the 22nd.
