High school basketball: Archbishop Stepinac, Myers Park make big jumps in this week's MaxPreps Top 25

Beaumont United, Imhotep Charter and Little Rock Christian Academy crack the latest rankings.

There are two notable risers in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings as Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y.) ascends four spots from No. 11 to No. 7 and Myers Park (Charlotte, N.C.) moves up seven spots from No. 15 to No. 8.

Archbishop Stepinac picked up a pair of wins at Hoophall West, including a 53-50 victory over previous No. 12 Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.). Myers Park defeated previous No. 4 John Marshall (Richmond, Va.) 64-58 to halt the nation's fourth-longest active win streak.

The nation's second-longest winning streak also came to an end last week also as previous No. 10 Richmond Heights (Ohio) tumbles out of the MaxPreps Top 25 after a pair of losses following 49 consecutive wins over the past two seasons.

Along with Richmond Heights, previous No. 21 Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) and No. 23 Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) also dropped out of the rankings this week after suffering losses.



No. 23 Beaumont United (Beaumont, Texas), No. 24 Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia, Pa.) and No. 25 Little Rock Christian Academy (Little Rock, Ark.) each enter the MaxPreps Top 25 for the first time this season.

Opened the season with an 84-57 victory over National Top 10 No. 10 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) paced by a game-high 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists from three-star junior Kayden Mingo.

After beginning the season with a 122-35 victory over The Heights (Potomac, Md.), the Panthers face No. 8 Myers Park on Saturday and No. 5 Sidwell Friends on Sunday at the National High School Hoops Festival.

Traveled to Hoophall West in Arizona and picked up a signature victory over previous No. 12 Perry 61-53 led by a game-high 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists from four-star USC signee Trent Perry.

Begin the season with a contest against Eastside (Paterson) on Dec. 14 before traveling to the City of Palms Classic, where they take on McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.) in a first-round matchup on Dec. 18.

Escaped with a 56-54 victory over Curie (Chicago, Ill.) at the Chicago Elite Classic to begin the season behind 17 points from top 100 junior Acaden Lewis and 15 points from three-star Georgetown signee Caleb Williams. Take on No. 2 Paul VI on Saturday and No. 13 John Marshall on Sunday at the National High School Hoops Festival.

Defeated Osborne (Marietta) 75-58 at the Tournament of Champions Classic led by 19 points from top 75 Purdue signee Gicarri Harris and 16 points from top 20 Georgia commit Jacob Wilkins.

Tipped off the season with a pair of impressive wins at Hoophall West, defeating previous No. 12 Perry 53-50 on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from three-star junior Danny Carbuccia and knocking off Centennial (Corona, Calif.) 76-66. Four-star Kentucky signee Boogie Fland scored 27 points in each game.

Notched a signature victory over previous No. 4 John Marshall 64-58 at Good Guys vs. Cancer to snap their 38-game winning streak. Four-star Tennessee signee Bishop Boswell was the catalyst with 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the win.

Suffered their second consecutive loss last week, falling to National Top 10 No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde) despite 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals from No. 2-ranked junior Cameron Boozer. The Explorers look to bounce back against defending state champion Riviera Prep (Miami) tonight.

Blew past Homewood-Flossmoor (Flossmoor, Ill.) 77-47 at the Chicago Elite Classic. Top 100 junior Christian Gurdak provided 18 points and 14 rebounds in his Gonzaga debut.

Under-the-radar junior Kade Bonam contributed a team-high 23 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a 75-68 victory over Sunnyslope (Phoenix, Ariz.) at Hoophall West.

Lost their first game since Feb. 6, 2022 when they fell to No. 8 Myers Park 64-58 at Good Guys vs. Cancer. The defending national champions rebounded with an 84-78 victory over Richmond the following night led by a team-high 23 points from junior guard Aiden Argabright.

Knocked off Southern Coast Academy (Orlando, Fla.) 52-41 at the Derek Smith Invitational led by 19 points and six rebounds from top 30 senior Bryson Tucker.

Knocked off previous No. 23 Lake Travis (Austin) 66-63 in a controversial finish that saw the Tigers intercept the inbound pass at halfcourt with 0.8 seconds remaining before taking a dribble and knocking down the game-winning shot that appeared to be after the buzzer. Three-star Villanova signee Josiah Moseley led the way with 33 points in the win.

A big week awaits the the Buccaneers as they travel to Hunstville on Friday for a top 50 national showdown before hosting defending Class 6A state champion Buckhorn (New Market) on Saturday.

Although the Pumas suffered a pair of losses at Hoophall West, they showed the ability to compete with the top teams in the country as they fell to No. 7 Archbishop Stepinac 53-50 at the buzzer before losing to No. 3 Havard-Westlake 63-51.

High-scoring group is averaging 87.6 points per contest through three games behind 19.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per contest from under-the-radar senior D.J. Kent.

Blew past Rocky River (New Mint) 111-67 to elevate their scoring average to 99.7 points per game. Five-star Duke signee Isaiah Evans continued his strong start to the season with 26 points and four assists in the lopsided win.

Opened the season with wins over Devon Prep 69-38 and Moon Area 63-53. Three-star Pittsburgh signee Brandin Cummings led the way with 46 points in those contests.

Tipped off the season with a 75-35 victory over West De Pere paced by 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists from three-star Wisconsin commit Zach Kinziger. Northern Iowa pledge Will Hornseth also contributed 16 points to become the 13th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points.

Kicked off the season with a lopsided 56-27 victory over Putnam City North (Oklahoma City) before edging out Deer Creek (Edmond) 65-59 behind 22 points and 11 rebounds from three-star Wyoming signee Dylan Warlick.

Moved above .500 on the season with an 80-57 victory over Holy Innocents Episcopal (Atlanta) sparked by 20 points from three-star senior Jaye Nash.
