The Ashe County Huskies will face off against the Foard Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Ashe County is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering North Wilkes just ended the team's six-match winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2. Huskies fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Vikings since Wednesday.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Ashe County sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 23-25, 16-14.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jose Cheek, who had 14 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gracie Finley, who had 28 digs, 16 kills, and one block.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Foard walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Cavaliers on Saturday as they made off with a 3-0 win.
Foard not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept East Burke between 16 and 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 25-16.
Foard is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Ashe County, their loss dropped their record down to 24-8.
Ashe County came out on top in a nail-biter against Foard when the teams last played back in August of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
