Recap: Monessen Greyhounds vs. West Greene Pioneers
The Monessen Greyhounds waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They took down West Greene 40-25. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Monessen also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Hailey Johnson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. MyAsia Majors was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Monessen is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for West Greene, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monessen will take on Jefferson-Morgan at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Jefferson-Morgan: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Monessen has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for West Greene, they will face off against Geibel Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Geibel Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday.
