Softball Recap: Dougherty Wins Going Away Against Calhoun County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sumter County, Dougherty was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Calhoun County Cougars as they made off with a 19-11 win. With that victory, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Dariona Simmons was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season. Deriyah Gibbs was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dougherty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Dougherty's win bumped their record up to 2-3.
