Volleyball Recap: Lowell Has No Trouble Against Merrillville

Lowell hadn't done well against Merrillville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 3-0 win. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Devils yet this season.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21, 25-17.

Emily Aguilar paced Lowell's offense, picking up six kills. Aguilar got some help from Josie Laub and her 13 assists. Dafne Aguilar-Martinez controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

The victory was the third in a row for Lowell, bringing their record up to 3-1. As for Merrillville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Lowell will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Red Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Merrillville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Concord on the 23rd.
