Basketball Recap: Joslyn Sheppard Key Part of Team Effort in Knights Win

Downey hadn't done well against Pitman recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Downey Knights came out on top against the Pitman Pride by a score of 36-28. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 28-22 win back in January.

Downey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joslyn Sheppard out in front who posted five points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Sheppard has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Zadie Carraway was another key player, putting up eight points and 18 boards.

Downey now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Pitman, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season.

Downey has already played their next game, a 28-22 defeat against Tokay on the 17th. Pitman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
