            Basketball Recap: Mohawk Area Warriors vs. Ellwood City Wolverine        
        
		
        
        
            If Mohawk Area was feeling good  fresh off their  49-24 takedown of Sto-Rox last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mohawk Area Warriors came up short against  the Ellwood City Wolverine on Monday, falling  59-37. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  65-30  on January 2nd.
 Ellwood City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Elsie Sturgeon, who  dropped  a double-double on 14 points and 13  rebounds. The dominant performance also gave  Sturgeon a new career-high in  steals (six). Another player making a difference was  Caitlin Kreitzer, who  went 10 of 19  en route to 21  points in addition to six  assists and four  steals.

The  loss snapped Mohawk Area's winning streak at three games  and leaves them with a 5-8 record. As for Ellwood City,  the  win made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 10-7.
 Mohawk Area will venture away from home to  square off against Beaver Falls  at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Ellwood City, they will host Sto-Rox  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
