Softball Recap: Duluth Wildcats vs. Mill Creek Hawks
Duluth had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 11-13 to make it four. They fell just short of the Mill Creek Hawks by a score of 6-4. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.
Kaylie Zirger made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
As for Mill Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.
On Mill Creek's side, Bethany Sottnick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Carsen Faber was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Laila Torres was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Coming up, Duluth will take on Lambert at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mill Creek, they will challenge Lakeside at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
