Softball Recap: Elgin Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Elgin barely beat Altus the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Owls blew past the Bulldogs 11-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kynli Garrett was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Ella Melton was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

The victory was the third in a row for Elgin, bringing their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Altus, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Elgin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 23-1 victory against Western Heights on the 26th. Altus has also already played their next game (against Lawton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
