Basketball Recap: Monterey Victorious

King City came into Friday's match looking for another win against Monterey, but Jeanine Williams wouldn't allow it. The Monterey Dores came out on top against the King City Mustangs by a score of 55-42 on Friday thanks in part to Williams, who posted 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Monterey's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Eastin Jennings, who had six points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, King City still got an impressive performance from Amity Hearne, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Hearne continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Janesa Lopez, who put up nine points.

Monterey's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for King City, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Monterey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-33 defeat against Stevenson on the 7th. As for King City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-29 loss against Soledad on the 7th.
