Preview: Booker Tornadoes vs. Aubrey Rogers Patriots
The Booker Tornadoes will face off against the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Booker's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Booker had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Bulldogs at home to the tune of 59-29. Booker has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 30 points or more this season.
Jsiyah Taylor was nothing short of spectacular: she scored 24 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jakai Peterson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Aubrey Rogers ended up a good deal behind Gateway on Friday and lost 56-37. Aubrey Rogers was down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Aubrey Rogers saw an underclassman step up: Angelina Insana scored 14 points along with four steals. That was a full 37.8% of Aubrey Rogers' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Booker pushed their record up to 13-9 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Aubrey Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.
