Basketball Game Preview: Masterman vs. Abington Friends

Masterman will head out to face off against Abington Friends at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Abington Friends took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Masterman, who comes in off a win.

Masterman is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Northeast: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Masterman blew Northeast out of the water with a 59-14 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-7.

Jocelyn Goldstein was her usual excellent self, putting up 30 points. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Peyton Simmons was another key player, posting 13 points.

Meanwhile, Abington Friends was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Academy of the New Church, falling 59-24.

Masterman has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38 points. As for Abington Friends, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything came up roses for Masterman against Abington Friends when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 46-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Masterman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
