Soccer Game Preview: Whittier Christian vs. Thacher

The Whittier Christian Heralds will face off against the Thacher Toads at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Whittier Christian sitting on six straight wins and Thacher on nine.

Whittier Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Segerstrom a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Heralds have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Thacher's game on Saturday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Godinez Fundamental, sneaking past 3-2. Given the Toads' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Grizzlies are ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whittier Christian's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight matches. As for Thacher, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
