Soccer Game Preview: Proviso West vs. York

Proviso West hasn't had much luck against York recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Dukes at 6:30 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Proviso West duked it out with Lyons on Thursday. The Panthers fell just short of the Lions by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Proviso West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Lyons are ranked 11th).

Meanwhile, York waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Shamrocks. That's two games straight that York have won by just one goal.

York now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Proviso West, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

Proviso West came up short against York when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 4-2. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
