A feisty cat fight will be fought as Lafayette Christian Cougars take on Trinity Christian School of Griffin LIONS at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lafayette Christian has six straight wins, Trinity Christian School of Griffin has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, everything went Lafayette Christian's way against Skipstone Academy as Lafayette Christian made off with a 12-2 victory. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Josiah Hughes and Cody Batastini were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hughes struck out 12 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Batastini pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hughes has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Hughes scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3, while Batastini scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Batastini a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Lafayette Christian let David Karvelas and Dustin Ogle run wild. Karvelas scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Ogle scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Karvelas has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Childree, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Lafayette Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian School of Griffin fell victim to Peachtree Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Panthers.
Trinity Christian School of Griffin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was C Morris, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.
Lafayette Christian pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Lafayette Christian took their victory against Trinity Christian School of Griffin in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lafayette Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
